An attitude of gratitude is like pumpkins in November. Easy to find when in season but hard, if not impossible to keep year-round.
And it’s not to say that gratitude isn’t something we want to maintain. I mean, after all, gratitude is good for you — even scientists say so.
Benefits of Gratitude
Gratitude helps improve your physical health. Want less aches and pains? Try an attitude of gratitude.
Gratitude is also good for your mental health! It’s been found to increase happiness and reduce depression, all while making you more resilient overall.
“People who partake in the “three good things” exercise — which, as the name suggests, prompts people to think of three good moments or things that happened that day — see considerable improvements in depression and overall happiness, sometimes in as little as a couple weeks.
Susan Peirce Thompson ~ Psychology Today
Another benefit of gratitude is improved self-esteem. If you’re often caught in the comparison trap after scrolling through Instagram (hands raised over here!)…yep, a dose of gratitude might be just what you need.
And probably, my favorite benefit of all is better sleep (you too?). Grateful people simply sleep better and longer.
There are many more reasons to be happy, and I’m sure you have your own list, but one thing I know for sure is that it’s hard to be discontent, disgruntled or even disappointed when I’m grateful.
Being reminded of the benefits of gratitude just might spur us on to practice it a little more often. And what better time than November? So, today, I’m sharing with you some of my favorite articles that inspire me to be grateful all year long. I hope they do the same for you too!

You’re so right, Marva, the benefits of gratitude are amazing! I was having a conversation with a friend recently, and started to say ‘well, besides a, b, and c, everything is good’ but I changed it to talk about 3 specific things that were going well. All of a sudden I could not remember those a, b and c complaints-even when I tried! It was awesome!
