Spiritual Practices

These practices can help you connect with God, cultivate spiritual growth, and experience His presence in your life. A few examples of spiritual practices include:
- Prayer
- Bible Study
- Meditation
- Worship
- Fasting
- Journaling
- Service
Resources
There are a wide range of resources that can help you explore and implement spiritual practices in your daily life. Below are a few suggestions to get you started.
Books
Where do I even start? There are so many books available on spiritual practices that can both guide and inspire you. Rather than provide an exhaustive list, I will share a few of my favorites.
The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence (available for free in Kindle)
Reimagining the Ignatian Examen: Fresh Ways to Pray from Your Day by Father Mark E. Thibodeaux SJ
Spiritual Practices for Soul Care: 40 Ways to Deepen Your Faith by Dr. Barbara L. Peacock
Devotionals
These daily devotionals offer short readings and reflections that can help you incorporate spiritual practices into your routine.
My Utmost for HIs Highest by Oswald Chambers
Morning and Evening by Charles Spurgeon
Of course, if you’re looking for a more modern devotional specifically for women you can check out my best-selling book, Time to Thrive: A Busy Woman’s Devotional Journal.
Apps
By now you probably know that I’m a big fan of devotional apps. They are a fantastic way to engage with God’s word as part of (or in spite of) your daily routine. Check out my hugely popular list of devotional apps for busy women (including my new favorite) right here.
Don’t worry, these apps are well-suited for men as well.
Church Communities
One of the best ways to practice spiritual disciplines is through community with others. Many churches provide teachings, small groups, and workshops focused on spiritual growth and discipleship. Plus, the Bible has much to say about how relationships can sharpen your faith and I can certainly attest to that truth.
If you are looking for a church community I’d be happy to recommend one in your area. Just get in touch here.
As you seek to grow deeper in your faith, it’s essential to choose resources that align with your Christian beliefs and values. Pray for guidance and discernment as you explore these resources, and seek the wisdom of experienced Christian mentors and leaders in your community.
If you have a favorite resource that wasn’t listed here, I’d love to hear about it.
